Venus Williams

India Wells, Calif. – Venus Williams, 44, proves that Venus Williams will not compete at BNP Paribas Open.
The event was posted on social media, saying: “Our team has learned that Venus will not accept wildcards this year,” a message from India’s Wells Championship Director Tommy Haas.
“We hope Venus will go well and hope to see her in the Indian well in the future.”
It was a weird backtrack, with audio going on Williams’ social media for hours, and she said she wouldn’t be competing in Coachella Valley next month.
On Wednesday, BNP Paribas Open released a press release saying Williams (seven-time Grand Slam singles champion) was awarded a wildcard and will earn his 10th career there .
Williams has not been on any tour since losing his first round at the Miami Open in March 2024. That came less than two weeks after she lost her opening match at Indian Wells.
