Canada’s M’Boko wins first round of Qatar Open

Canada’s Victoria Mboko defeated Czech Marie Bouzkova 7-5, 6-2 in the first round of the women’s singles match at the Qatar Open on Sunday.
The 19-year-old from Toronto broke serve on six of 11 occasions but failed to issue any aces and committed six double faults.
Mboko, the 10th seed in this tournament, also scored 64% of her first serve points.
In other singles matches, Leila Fernandez of Laval, Quebec lost to American player Ang Lee 4-6, 3-6.
Fernandez hit four aces and had two double faults, but failed to capitalize on his only chance of the match.
In women’s doubles, Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Brazil’s Luisa Stefani, the fifth-seeded pair of this tournament, defeated Russia’s Irina Khromacheva and Indonesia’s Aldira Sujadi 7-5, 6-2.
