Victoria Mboko’s magical run is not over yet.
The Canadian defeated Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-2 in Montreal on Monday to beat the National Bank Open semi-finals 6-4, 6-2.
Monday’s win was only two days after Mboko won her biggest win of her career in a row against No. 1 seed Coco Gauff on Saturday.
The 18-year-old from Toronto rose from the top 300 to the world’s No. 85 in a breakthrough year. She is expected to be in the top 50 after Monday’s victory.
Mboko will advance in the semi-finals, facing Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
Since Bianca Andreescu won all the competitions in 2019, she now has only two wins to win the National Bank open in Canada.
