Jack Draper has withdrawn from the Australian Open due to an arm injury

Jack Draper has withdrawn from the upcoming Australian Open on Friday, citing a bone injury in his arm that has kept him out of the 2025 US Open.

“I’ve had this injury for a long time,” Draper said in a social media post. “I’m at the very end of the season [rehab] process, and going back on the court back to five-set tennis so soon it doesn’t seem like a smart decision for me and my tennis.

“It always seems to make me stronger, it makes me even more hungry to be the player I want to be. I’m looking forward to getting back there in 2026 and competing. I want to thank everyone for supporting me in 2025. It means the world to me to compete and play there on tour with the other guys. I’m looking forward to doing that again.”

The 24-year-old Brit called it “the hardest, most challenging, and most complicated injury” of his career to date.

That’s saying a lot, too, given Draper’s laundry list of physical issues throughout his young career. The world No. 10 also struggled with shoulder and stomach problems in 2023 and 2024. He was injury free from January until the end of August this past season, where he took his first Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells. Draper appeared to be on his way to the Nitto ATP Finals until this current injury took him out of the US Open.
