Victoria Mboko of Canada qualifies for the Italian Open

Canada’s Victoria Mboko will score another shot in the main draw in the WTA Tour Class 1000 event.

Mboko, 18, won a spot in the Italian Open on Tuesday, winning Russia’s 9th qualifying seed Kamilla Rakhimova 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, and in the second and final round of the Clay-Court match.

Mboko entered the second round of the Miami Open earlier this year after receiving the wildcard.

Mboko is the 156th-ranked world, with a record of 32-3 this season, largely playing in the ITF World Tour where she won five titles. She also won two singles matches for Canada in the Billie Jean King Cup.

Canadians Leylah Fernandez and Bianca Andreescu also attracted women’s singles at the Italian Open.

Canada’s Gabriel Diallo, Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime were in men’s singles.
