Vasek Pospisil in Canada fails in Facundo Bagnis open to National Bank

Vasek Pospisil did not fall without a fight.

The Canadian lost his first round in the National Bank Open, which was shown to Argentina by Rogers to Facundo Bagnis on Sunday, but that did not bring a dramatic share.

Pospisil announced earlier this week that he would retire at the end of the game, he participated in a medical timeout and left the court in the first set. Although he was able to return eventually, Pospisil looked very uncomfortable once the game resumed.

Bagnes continued to win the opening 6-2, with local laborers in Vernon, BC in the final few points.

However, Pospisil flipped the script in the second set and fell into pain, winning three games in a row and even winning the game with a 6-3 victory. The 35-year-old, with the momentum around him, roared after securing the last point of Game 5.

Bagnes eventually ruined the Cinderella story in the third and final game, winning the game with a 6-3 victory.

Canadian Tennis announced on Monday that Pospisil will retire after the game ended, ending his 18-year career after receiving his main drawing wild card for home events.

He ranked 25th in singles in 2014 and fourth in doubles a year later.

Pospisil won the Wimbledon Men’s Tag Team Championship in 2014 with American Jack Sock, along with six other ATP Men’s Tag Team Championships.

He made his debut in three singles finals but never won the championship.

Pospisil represented Canada twice at the Olympics (London 2012 and Rio 2016).

He has also represented Canada several times in the Davis Cup since his debut in 2008. POSPISIL kicked out 35 ties and won 33 games, helping Canada win its first title in 2022.
