There is no rest for the weary, as Lorenzo Musetti will bounce back when he makes his NITTTO ATP Finals Debut on Monday.

Not knowing that Novak Djokovic will finally withdraw the year-end championship, Musetti had no choice but to play the Athens ATP 250 this past week in the hope of getting Felix Auger You need to win the title, Masetti lost to Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 Saturday’s final. However, the Italian got a ticket to Turin when Djokovic announced soon after that he would not be playing.

So Mumetti moves on to replace Djokovic as the second highest player in Jimmy Connors’ team. The 23-year-old will start his week with a fifth showdown against Taylor Fritz, who leads the series 3-2. Musetti won all three of their meetings last season, including five sets in the Wimbledon Quarterfinals and a 6-4, 7-5 decision at the Paris Olympics. Fritz, however, won their only previous clash on hard court (indoors, too) 7-6 (8), 6-3 at the 2022 Davis Cup Finals.

Fritz reduced this fall, although at least he put together a 2-0 record in the laver cup (defeated by Alcaraz and Alexander Zvering) and finished the runner-up in Tokyo in Tokyo. Early exits from his most recent tournaments have the top-seeded American well rested in Turin.

A very different story, of course, is the wometti. The world number 9 played a three-man trio in Athens and his tournament match against Djokovic lasted two hours and 59 minutes. It’s hard to see a wometti with anything left in the tank.

Pick: Fritz at 2
