Canada’s Gabriel Diallo removes Jaume Munar in the second round of the U.S. Open

Gabriel Diallo’s first Grand Slam as a seed player was cut.
The Montrealist lost to Spain’s Jaume Munar in a direct loss of 7-5, 6-3, 7-5 in the U.S. Open on Thursday night, making him the first of three Canadian men to enter the game.
Like his loss to Taylor Fritz in July when he opened at the National Bank and his loss to Taylor Fritz in Cincinnati’s Jannik Sinner, Diallo was revoked by a non-compulsory mistake, causing Munar’s No. 13 to be committed 49 times.
Despite losing the serve in his third set second, the dial of the 31st seed regained the game in the subsequent match to grab it back and seemed to gain momentum in the tension.
However, in the penultimate race, a non-compulsive mistake turned out to be his revocation, as Diallo’s backhand track was a little too far and lost the race for the third time in the scene.
Munar continued to finish the game clinically, ending the rebound in the third set in a quick order with a 40-0 victory.
Denis Shapovalov ranked 27th in other Canadian men’s competitions, beating France’s Valentin Royer 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3. Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Russia’s Roman Saflin later that day.
