Canada’s Leylah Fernandez advances at the Miami Open

Leylah Fernandez entered the third round of Miami open tennis match on Thursday by defeating the U.S. Alycia Parks 6-3, 7-6 (1) (1) (1).
After dominating the first set decisive game, Fernandez brought that momentum into the second set, scoring three breakouts while capitulating one and earning 59.3% of the total points.
Fernandez improved to 2-0 against the park, with their only other meetings being held at the 2024 Australian Open.
The 22-year-old from Laval, Quebec will next face Ashlyn Krueger of the United States as she hopes to make 16 rounds of the WTA 1000 Championship for the first time in her career.
Fernandez entered the second round after entering the game.
Later, in the men’s first round move, Montreal’s Gabriel Diallo faced Argentina’s Tomás Etcheverry, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser.
