The last Canadian Falls of Canada Falls at Wimbledon when Dabrovsky was ousted from women’s doubles

LONDON – Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand partner Erin Routliffe were eliminated in the Wimbledon Women’s Doubles Championship on Tuesday and lost to Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinals 7-5, 7-6 (4).

The No. 2 seeds defended only one of their three breakthrough points against Belgium’s Mertens and Russia’s Kudmetova.

Mertens and Kudmetova’s eighth seeds also surpassed Dabrovsky and Rutlif 7-2.

Dabrowski and Routliffe reached the finals at All England club last year, but the 2023 U.S. Open champions fell into the Kate field of Czechia and Taylor Townsend of the United States.

The 33-year-old Dabrowski also lost in the Grass-Court Grand Grand Championship with Xu Yifan, then-Chinese partner, in 2019.

Dabrowski is the only Canadian to leave his home in Wimbledon. None of the six Canadians in singles surpassed the second round.
