Belgium defeated Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime and Victoria Mboko in the Confederations Cup.
After Canada swept past China in the first game of the season-opening team competition, Auger-Aliassime and Mboko were unable to find any success against Belgium on Tuesday in Sydney, Australia.
Men’s world No. 42 Zizou Bergers defeated world No. 5 Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 6-2, while women’s world No. 19 Elise Martens defeated World No. 18 Mboko 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The Belgian team defeated Mboko and Cliff Harper 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 to sweep their opponents.
The six group winners and the top two runners-up advance to the quarter-finals. Canada needs to win at least one game against Belgium to have a chance.
Diallo wins first fight
Ghana’s Gabriel Diallo is on his way to victory in 2026.
The sixth seed from Montreal defeated world No. 71 Jesper de Jong of the Netherlands 6-4, 7-6 (7) in the first round of the Hong Kong Open on Tuesday.
Diallo, ranked 40th, will next face Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong in an ATP Tour 250 event.
