Sinners take Alcaraz to win the first Wimbledon championship

LONDON – Jannik Sinner defeated two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday to win his first Wimbledon title and reversed the result of the epic French Open five weeks ago.

The No. 1 Sinner overall won his fourth Grand Slam title, keeping him away from Alcaraz’s second place as two young rivals separate from the rest of the men’s tennis.

The victory also allowed 23-year-old Italian Sinner to end several straight wins by 22-year-old Spaniard Alcaraz.

Alcaraz has won the last five head-on games between the couple, most recently playing nearly five 1/2 hours at Roland-Garros on June 8. This put Alcaraz 5-0 in the major final.

In addition to ending this perfection, Sina also claimed in a game that both of them were excellent in a match and was also an occasional turnover.

Alcaraz became the owner of the best 24-game unbeaten run in his career, entering the stadium of the Sun Bathing Center. He has won 20 consecutive games at the All England Club, including the 2023 and 2024 finals to Novak Djokovic.

The last one to beat Alkaraz at Wimbledon? Sinner, in the fourth round of the 2022 game.
