Carlos Alcaraz’s U.S. Open Champion allows him to replace sinners in the rankings

NEW YORK – Carlos Alcaraz officially returned to No. 1 in the ATP rankings for the first time in two years on Monday, replacing Jannik Sinner there after beating him in the U.S. Open men’s final, while Amanda Anisimova jumped into five lists at Amanda Anisimova, fourth in his career in the WTA, and fourth in the WTA after winning the campaign for Aryna Sabalenka.
“It feels great when you achieve your goals you set at the beginning of the year,” Alcalaz said after winning his second title on Flushing Meadows.
He added: “For me, realizing again… is a dream.”
Alcaraz defeated him from second place, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium, exchanging sinners with sinners.
Since its debut in June 2024, Sinner made his debut during the 65-week period.
Alcaraz first arrived at the location at the age of 19 in September 2022, making him the youngest No. 1 in ATP history, winning his first major title at the U.S. Open that year. He gave up his September 2023 ranking.
Alexander Zverev ranked third on Monday, while Novak Djokovic, a 24-time major champion, lost to Alcaraz in the semifinals on Friday, as he rose from seventh to fourth place.
Sabalenka could secure first place by entering New York’s quarterfinals before winning the second straight U.S. Open title on Saturday, 6-3, 7-6 (3).
Anisimova finished second in a row with the Major – she lost to Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final in July, which put her in the 9th five spots from 350 from the mental health break last season.
Swiatek was eliminated by Anisimova in the U.S. Open quarterfinals, followed by Coco Gauff.
Jessica Pegula slid from No. 4 to No. 7. She quit in the semi-finals last week against Sabalenka, a year after losing to her in the U.S. Open final.
Naomi Osaka’s first Grand Slam semifinal since the 2021 Australian Open – she lost to Anisimova on Thursday – to drive her from 24 to 14. Since January 2022, neither the four-time Grand Slam champion, the top 1 champion and the top 1 have entered the top 20.
