No. 1 seed and 2023 champion Jannik Diner will campaign for his ATP 500 Vienna campaign against Daniel Altmaier during the first action on Wednesday. The winner will be promoted to either Tomas Machac or Flavio Cobolli.

(1) Jannik Sonner vs. Daniel Altmaier

Outside of Italy, the open Erstere Bank in Vienna reaches out to the domestic competition of the sinner more than any other. Of course, it’s not like he needs any extra help in any tournament he enters. World No. 2 is 43-6 this season, including grand slam titles at the Australian open and Wimbledon. The sinner rested well this week after using a little energy to aim for $ 6 million in six kings in the SLM, where he quickly worked on both Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

Up first for the top seed on Wednesday is a familiar foe in Altmaier, who trails the series head-to-head 2-1. Altmaier pulled off five upsets at Roland Garros in 2023, but the sinner won in their previous meetings on hard court – with five sets in the 2022 Open 20-3, 6-3 a few weeks ago in Shanghai. Altmaier followed up with a devastating loss to Gilles Arnaud Bailly in Brussels First, so there is little reason to think anything will be different for the 51-year-old German on Wednesday.

Tomas Machac vs Flavio Cobolli

Makhac and Cobolli will square off for the fourth time in their careers on Wednesday. All three previous encounters have gone Makhec’s way; 7-6, 7-7, 6-1 in 2022 in 202, we opened the Uv in 20 (3), 6-2 in 2022 in 2022 on the Challenger Challenger Court, and 6-1, 6-2 to start this season in the United Cup.

Since making his run in the Wimbledon Quarterfinals, Cobolli has beaten only one opponent ranked better than 56. Machac has been cool in recent months, too, though at least they’ve managed to get four lines in the US open. This game has gone down in the face. COBOLLI is a scary place for 15-28 to live inside; Machac shines with 105-50. Count on the top-ranked Czech for another head-to-head victory in this game.
