Shapovalov of Canada is open in the United States

Canada’s Denis Shapovalov was ousted from the U.S. Open after losing 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday with a third round loss of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday.

Richmond Hill, Ontario, led 5-2 until Sinner rushed to the round 5-5 until Shapovalov, 27th seed, held its opening.

In the second inning, Shapovalov led 3-2 and Sina won four of the next five games, even a set.

Shapovalov once again jumped to an early lead with a 3-0 run in the third set. But Sina went on to win the next six games, leaving the Canadians right behind.

In the fourth and final game, Sina grabbed some early momentum and led 4-1 to finish the game.

Shapovalov had 15 aces to 9 double failures and converted three of his six breakpoint opportunities. However, he encountered Sina’s 36 unmandatory errors.

Meanwhile, the sinner had only 2 ACEs and 5 double failures in 6 of the 13 chances.

In women’s doubles action, Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Quebec, entered the third round with tennis legend Venus Williams, beat Japan’s Eri Hozumi and Norway’s Ulrikke Eikeri 7-6 (1), 6-1.

Fernandez and Williams broke four times in their seven chances, winning 79% of their first-place score and winning 29 winners to their opponent’s 19.

Next, the duo will face the winners between Katie Boulter of England and Sonay Kartal and Shuai Zhang and Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia.

Montreal’s Felix Osai-Aliassem plans to face third-seed Alexander Zverev in the third round late Saturday.
