Emma Navarro suffered a stunning loss at the French Open

Paris – US Open player Emma Navarro lasted just 57 minutes at the French Open, losing 6-0, 6-1 to Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the first round on Monday.
It was a major setback for the 24-year-old American (New Yorker), who made the fourth round of Paris last year in the first Grand Slam semifinal at Flushing Meadows. Navarro has had a strong start to the season, including the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and the WTA 500 title, but has been struggling with Clay this spring.
On the Suzanne-Lenglen Stadium, No. 68 Bouzas Maneiro dominated the game and entered the second round for the first time at Roland-Garros.
“I didn’t expect the result, but I always tried my best and I thought everything was possible,” Bouzas Maneiro said. “I played great on clay and winning the game at Roland Garros was special for me.”
Next, she will face Diane Parry in France or Robin Montgomery in the United States.
