LONDON – Emma Raducanu missed next week’s Berlin Open due to back problems as she tried to prepare for Wimbledon.
Raducanu, No. 37, has been dealing with late issues since last month’s French Open. She lost to Olympic champion Jung Jin-eun on Friday during her quarter-final loss at Queens Club.
Afterwards, the 22-year-old Raducanu said she needed a break.
“I’m not overly worried about this being a serious matter, but I know it’s very annoying and requires proper and careful management,” the 2021 U.S. Open champion said.
Of the top 10 female players, nine will play in Berlin, a pasture-player player to prepare for Wimbledon, which will begin on June 30.
