Paul vs. Fils, Lehecka vs. Landaluce

Qualifier Martin Landaluce has reached the quarterfinals in Miami and will try to continue his match against Jiri Lehecka on Wednesday. The all-seed show features Tommy Paul and Arthur Fils.
(22) Tommy Paul vs. (28) Arthur Fils
Paul and Fils will be facing each other for the second time in their careers when they meet in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open on Wednesday. Their only previous meeting came at the 2023 Shanghai Masters, where Paul won 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-4. Fils was only 19 at the time, and he is obviously a very different player at 21. Despite missing the second half of last season with a back injury, the Frenchman still registers at No. 31 in the world. He came back like a gang, finishing second to Carlos Alcaraz in Doha and destroying Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 en route to the last eight in Miami. The Phils are 12-4 in 2026 and have yet to lose a game to an opponent ranked worse than No. 8.
Unlike his opponent, Paul is backing up good form on the heels of an injury-plagued 2025 campaign. The 23rd-ranked American reached the stage of Adelaide, the fourth round of the Australian Open, and the final of Delray Beach, and so far in these two days he has dismissed Adrian Mannarino, Raphael Collington (in the third set), and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The Phils are hot, though, and their impressive defense could cause problems for Paul – who doesn’t have one big weapon to consistently finish points.

(Q) Martin Landaluce vs. (21) Jiri Lehecka
Landaluce is coming off an incredible run at the Masters 1000 tournament. The 20-year-old Spaniard was 2-14 at the ATP level before arriving in Miami. However, he managed to score some important points and the rest is history. The world number 151 advanced with wins over Marcos Giron, Luciano Darderi, Karen Khachanov, and Sebastian Korda – saving one match point against Korda in the second tiebreaker on Tuesday afternoon.

Although Lehecka is not consistent, but when she is beautiful… she is indeed good. The 22nd-ranked Czech made his debut this season in Miami, where he reached the last eight following losses to Moise Kouame, Ethan Quinn, and Taylor Fritz. With Lehecka high on confidence and Landaluce playing off days off following the biggest result of his career, this one should go to favourites.
