Osaka apologized to Mboko: “I’m in a daze”

In Victoria Mboko’s milestone home win, her rival Naomi Osaka has caused some headlines for her post-match behavior.

Last Friday, Osaka apologized to Mboko for not congratulating her after the victory.

“I want to be sorry, too, and congratulate Victoria,” Osaka wrote on the subject. “You played a great game and performed well in your future career.”

“I realized I don’t congratulate you on being in court. Honestly, I was in a daze…”

Mboko made the final blow in a surprise Cinderella run in Montreal on Thursday and earned praise in front of the crowd with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory, which swept the Canadian teenagers over the Canadian teenagers.

Osaka occasionally gets influenced by the audience throughout the game, obviously upset in her closing remarks.

Not many tennis professionals can better understand what Mboko is currently experiencing, rather than Osaka. The 27-year-old Japanese won a professional player at the age of 15 and won her first major title in 20 games, beating Serena Williams in the 2018 U.S. Open.

Osaka and Mboko are both open from Cincinnati on Friday.
