Numbers: Swiatek makes history with Wimbledon champions

Iga Swiatek’s first Wimbledon championship is memorable as the world’s fourth makes the job of Amanda Anisimova in the United States easy.

The 24-year-old beat Anisimova 6-0, 6-0, to win her first Grand Slam title since last year’s French Open. She also became the first Polish player to win the Wimbledon championship in the open era.

Here are the notable statistics and achievements of Swiatek’s victory at Wimbledon.

Rare double bag victory

Swiatek is the first player in the open era to win the Wimbledon women’s singles final 6-0, 6-0. She was the second player to win the Grand Slam final with a double Jill award after Steffi Graf beat Natasha Zvereva with the same result at the French Open in 1988.

It also took Swiatek 57 minutes to win the game, the Wimbledon final since Petra Kvitova defeated Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard in 2014.

Swiatek became the first bagel dish since Martina Navratilova beat Andrea Jaeger 6-0, 6-3 in 1983, opening the Wimbledon final for the first time with her first bagel.

Swiatek’s milestone wins

The Polish star is just the second player in the Open Age, taking over her 100th Grand Slam title in the final. Andy Murray was the only player to achieve a milestone in 2012 when he defeated Novak Djokovic.

Swiatek is the fifth largest female player to win a Grand Slam title on all three ostensibly in the Open Age, joining Graff (The Littleest Man), Serena Williams, Hana Manlikova and Chris Evert.

Dominate the Grand Slam final

Swiatek is just the second woman in the Open era, winning the first six Grand Slam finals and joining former world No. 1 Monica Seles.

The eighth seed lost only 35 games in the game, the least match ever since 1990.

Swiatek is 100-20 since its first Grand Slam in 2019.
