Novak Djokovic withdraws from Monte Carlo Masters due to injury

MONACO — Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Monte Carlo Masters after missing the Miami Open with a right shoulder injury.
“We send him our best wishes and hope to see him back on the court soon,” the clay-court championship wrote in a message announcing Djokovic’s withdrawal on Instagram on Friday.
The post did not specify the reason for the 38-year-old Djokovic’s withdrawal, but the 24-time Grand Slam champion has not played since losing to Jack Draper in three sets in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open two weeks ago.
A year ago in Monte Carlo, Djokovic lost in the second round to Alejandro Tabilo.
Third-ranked Djokovic has yet to comment on his withdrawal on his social media channels.
