No. 7 Jack Draper misses tennis season with left arm injury

Jack Draper will miss the rest of the tennis season with a left arm injury, forcing him to withdraw from the second round at the U.S. Open.

The seventh-ranked player reached the U.S. Open semifinal last year, has been plagued by injuries for most of the season and was diagnosed with injuries after Wimbledon’s second-round defeat.

“I’m having a hard time accepting because I’m building some incredible momentum and playing something great this year,” Draper said in a statement Monday. “But, I’ve been through this before, I’ll always be stronger because I’m very motivated to reach my potential.”

Draper, 23, hasn’t played singles since Wimbledon due to an injury to his left upper arm, but was able to beat Federico Agustin Gomez in the first round of the U.S. Open and then quit before the second round.
