Ben Shelton gave us three men in the ATP top ten for the first time since 2006

LONDON – Ben Shelton rose two spots in the ATP rankings on Monday, joining fourth place Taylor Fritz and No. 8 Tommy Paul, the United States awarded three men in the top 10 for the first time in nearly 20 years.

In April 2006, Andy Roddick ranked fourth, James Blake ranked seventh, and Andre Agassi ranked tenth.

Four American women in the WTA’s top ten this week, five of the top 13: second place, Coco Gauff, 3rd place Jessica Pegula, No. 6 Madison Keys, No. 9 Emma Navarro and No. 13 Amanda Anisimova.

Aryna Sabalenka is still ranked No. 1, the position she took over from Iga Swiatek in October, which fell to No. 8 on Monday.

Tatjana Maria, a 37-year-old German, won the Queen’s Club championship on Monday as a qualifier, rising 43 places.

The 22-year-old Shelton won the University of Florida’s 2022 NCAA singles title, only in his third season. He didn’t travel from the United States until 2023.

Shelton is a two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist, opening in the United States at the 2023 U.S. Open and the Australian Open in January this year.

Fritz matched his career high after winning the pasture championship in Stuttgart, Germany on Sunday. The top three men remained the same: No. 1 Jannik Sinner, second-placed Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, runner-up for Fritz of Stuttgart.
