France’s Arthur Fils withdrew from the French Open due to injury

Paris – French seed Arthur Fils withdrew from the French Open on Friday due to unspecified injuries.

The 14th seed FIL was in the third round Saturday at No. 17 Andrey Rublev.

Philes talked about back pain in Thursday’s second round victory against Spain’s Jaume Munar.

“There are some issues behind it, but it’s because I’m young, so I’m used to it,” the 20-year-old said after that game. “There are cramps. Everything. The mixing isn’t great.”

When asked if he was suitable to face Lubuff, Pheles said: “I hope so.”

With the advent of FILS, there were no French left in the Roland-Garros draw.
