Last year’s finalist Fritz beats late Musetti in ATP Finals

TURIN, Italy — Taylor Fritz got off to a strong start Monday with a 6-3, 6-4 win over late-arriving Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Finals.
Fritz reached the championship finals last year among the top eight players in the season.
Musetti is Novak Djokovic’s replacement, who withdrew with a shoulder injury after defeating the Italian in Saturday’s final in Athens.
A rematch follows between defending champion Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassim, whom Sinner won in straight sets at the recent Paris Masters final.
Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who won his first race on Sunday, remain in contention for the year-end No. 1 spot.
