Anisimova defeated Swiatek and advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA Finals with Rybakina

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Amanda Anisimova advanced to the WTA semifinals on Wednesday, defeating No. 2 Iga Swiatek 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2.
The 24-year-old American beat Swiatek for the second consecutive time since losing to Poland’s Swiatek 0-6, 0-6 in the Wimbledon final.
Anisimova, ranked fourth, also eliminated Swiatek in the quarterfinals of the US Open.
Anisimova broke serve for the first time in the match, forcing the second set into a decider. She faced only four break points and saved each one.
Elena Rybakina, who has advanced to the semifinals, defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-4 to complete the round-robin stage.
Rybakina and Anisimova will learn about their semifinal opponents after Thursday’s final round-robin match: No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka will play against defending champion Coco Gauff;
