Canadian teen Victoria Mboko wins second round at the French Open

Victoria Mboko of Canada seems to like Roland-Garros very much.
The 18-year-old won her second round on Wednesday, beating Germany’s Eva Lys 6-4, 6-4, extending her winning streak to 10 games at the French Open.
Toronto’s Mboko won three straight wins to qualify, with her Grand Slam debut. She beat New Zealand’s Lulu Suns in the first round.
In the 59th LYS match, Mboko passed her first serve and won 71% of the points.
Although the 120th Canadian was broken three times, she answered five times on her own in the 12 opportunities.
With the victory, Mboko is expected to enter the top 100 at FIR. The live forecast as of Wednesday morning put her at 89th.
Mboko will face her biggest test in the third round in the eighth seed of China Qinwen Zheng, who won the Olympic gold medal last year at the same Roland-Garros venue.
She is the first Canadian to enter the third round of the French Open, with Gabriel Diallo and Denis Shapovalov going to compete in the second round on Thursday.
