In the semi-finals of the Stockholm Open, Canada’s Shapovalov lost to Norway’s Rudd

Canadian Denis Shapovalov is just a hair away from competing for the ATP title.

The Richmond Hill, Ont., native lost to Norway’s Casper Rudd 6-3, 6-4 in the Stockholm Open semifinals on Saturday.

Third-seeded Shapovalov hit six aces and four double faults and had one of five break-point chances.

Luther, the No. 2 seed in this tournament, hit two double-fault aces and converted three break points in six opportunities.

The Norwegian next faces France’s Ugo Humbert in Sunday’s final.

Humbert advanced easily against top seed Holger Ruhn of Denmark. Ruane was injured in the second set.
