French Open Overview: Sinners expand Grand Slam unbeaten run to 17 games

PARIS – Suzanne-Lenglen’s crowd responded with standing applause when Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the third round of the French Open finally won a single match on Saturday. Sina was so good on the day, extending his Grand Slam winning streak to 17 games, looking like a man in the No. 1 position.
The Sinners dominated Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in just 34 minutes, the fastest men’s match for Roland-Garros this year and measured by the lost matches, the most unfavorable victory in the major championships of the Sinners’ career.
“We try to improve,” Sina said. “Today, I don’t think I have a lot to improve.”
Check out some numbers: The sinner delivered 31 winners and made only 9 uncompulsory mistakes. He accumulated 18 breakthrough points, converted 7, faced only one, and saved one.
The first 11 games are the way of sinners. When Sinner missed the return, he scored 6-0, 5-1 after 55 minutes of action, Lehka raised his arm and fisted in some sarcastic celebrations. The fans went crazy, rising from their seats, applauding and shouting, which caused Lehka’s smile.
There is no doubt. Lehecka is not Ran, either. The 23-year-old from the Czech Republic ranks 34th and is a Grand Slam quarterfinal.
But he was totally beaten by Sinner, who won two of the past major tournaments – at the U.S. Open in September and at the Australian Open in January – is now the unbeaten owner in the sport’s most important match, surpassing three in this century only in the century, while Novak Djokovic, Novak Djokovic, Novak Djokovic, Novak Djokovic, Novak Djokovic, Novak Djokovic, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael andal.
Sinner’s bid for the first French Open Championship, and the fourth overall trophy, will continue on Monday, when he faces a quarter-final spot in No. 17 Andrey Rublev. When his opponent Arthur Fils withdraws the game, Rublev advances because he has a stress fracture in his lower back.
What else happened to Saturday’s French Open?
Jessica Pegula is the runner-up of the U.S. Open, the third-seeded American, back to the 2019 French Open finalist and 2023 Wimbledon champion Maketa Vondrousova 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 and enters the fourth round. Mirra Andreeva, who was the Russian who reached the semifinals a year ago, headed to the fourth round showdown against Daria Kasatkina. Ethan Quinn, the 2023 NCAA champion of the U.S. qualifiers, beat him for the second time in a row and was defeated by the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor, Netherlands Netherlands 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-1, 6-4. Griekspoor entered the 0-4 game in the third round of the professional game.
Who’s on Roland-Garros’ schedule on Sunday?
