Felix Auger-Aliassime withdraws from Swiss indoor quarterfinal match against Munnar

BASEL, Switzerland — Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime withdrew from the quarterfinals of the Swiss Indoor Tennis Championships on Friday after losing 6-3 in the first set to Spain’s Jaime Munar.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked 12th in the world and fifth seed, stretched his back early in the first set.
He dropped his serve in the fourth game and never recovered, although he saved three break points in the sixth game.
He defeated fellow Canadian Gabriel Diallo (No. 41) and Croatian Marin Cilic (No. 89) in the first two rounds.
Munar (No. 42) will face the winner of Canada’s Denis Shapovalov (No. 23) and Brazil’s João Fonseca (No. 46) in the semifinals later Friday.
Meanwhile, Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and her American partner Sofia Kenin lost in the Tokyo Open women’s doubles quarterfinals to Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Hungary’s Timea Babos.
