Djokovic wins Athens title, withdraws from nitto atp finals

Novak Djokovic wrapped up his 2025 season with a stunning victory in the Hellenic Championship Final on Saturday afternoon. Djokovic lifted the trophy at the ATP 250 tournament hosted by his family after defeating Lorenzo Musetti 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

The 38-year-old Serb broke back in the third, but held to love at 6-5 in the end.

“(It was) an amazing fight,” confirmed Djokovic. “Three hours of a tough game, physically. You could have matched Lorenzo with an amazing performance. I’m very proud of myself to get this.”

Djokovic qualified for the nitto atp finals easily, but his time is up after he announced his retirement soon after the victory in Athens.

It is none other than Masetti, the exception to the rule, to replace DJokovic in Turin. In fact, Djokovic told Musetti during their time at the net that the Italian would indeed be making his year-end tournament.

“I was looking forward to competing in Turin and giving my best, but after today’s final in Athens, I am saddened to withdraw due to an injury (shoulder),” the Grand Slam champion wrote on social media. “I’m really sorry to the fans who were hoping to see me play – Your support means all the players are fantastic competition, and I can’t wait to get back on the court soon!”
