Defending champion Alexander Zverev improves at the Italian Open

Roma – Defending champion Alexander Zverev advanced to the Italian Open on Sunday, beating Vilius Gaubas in the Lithuanian qualifiers in a straight match.
Zverev, the second-ranked team, won 6-4, 6-0 in Rome’s third round and will be in France’s Arthur Fils next.
FILS beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Carlos Alcaraz played Laslo Djere later Sunday.
The highest ranked Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s draw was played from a match against Sofia Kenin.
Kenin, the No. 31 seed American, won the first set 6-3, but Sabalenka paid off, taking the next two sets with the same score.
US Open champion Sabalenka will play Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk in the next round.
Coco Gauff won 7-5 and 6-3 Magda Lineette in a row.
Former U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu played against Veronika Kudermetova but rebounded back to play 5-7, 6-0, 6-1.
Gauff and Raducanu meet in the next round.
