Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski won her first WTA doubles title after reuniting with Brazil’s Luisa Stefani.
Fifth seeds Dabrowski and Stefani beat the unseeded pair of Germany’s Laura Sigmund and Russia’s Vera Zvonareva 6-1, 6-3 in the final of the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday.
The match lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes, with Dabrowski and Stefani winning 59.3% of the total points.
They seized their only break point opportunity and saved the two break points they faced.
Dabrowski reunited with Stephanie this season, having ended a 2 1/2-year partnership with New Zealander Erin Routliffe last November that produced multiple titles, including two U.S. Open women’s doubles titles.
Dabrowski and Stephanie have previously won titles together at the 2021 State Bank Open in Montreal and in 2022 in Chennai, India.
