Carlos Alcaraz

Miami – Top-ranked tennis player Carlos Alcaraz will make headlines at the Miami Invitational later this year – a one-day exhibition that marks the first tennis game at the Miami Marlins’ home court.

An event scheduled for December 8 at Loandepot Park will also feature João Fonseca No. 42, Amanda Anisimova No. 4 and Emma Raducanu No. 33.

The invitational tournament will include two singles matches, best three games per game, and a 10-point deciding third set.

Anisimova is a U.S. Open and Wimbledon finalist this year, facing 2021 U.S. Open champion Raducanu. Since then, six-time Major Champion Alcaraz will take over as 19-year-old Fonseca, Brazil’s highest-ranked singles player. This will be the first meeting between Alcaraz and Fonseca.

Molly Pendleton, senior vice president of Unified Events, is working with Loandepot Park for the event, saying the goal is partly to develop tennis.

“In the first meeting between Anisimova and Raducanu and Alcaraz and Fonseca, there are two smartest female stars who should prove to be electric nights for tennis fans,” Pendleton said in a statement.
