Canada’s Victoria M’Boko wins first match at Miami Open

When the rain finally stopped, Victoria Mboko wasted no time in her first match at the Miami Open.

The 10th-seeded Canadian defeated world No. 92 Anna Blinkova of Russia 6-2, 6-0 in the second round on Friday in just 59 minutes.

The early stages of the race were severely affected by the weather. Mboko’s game started late and was also delayed by rain.

Mboko, who was seeded and received a bye in the first round, will next face the winner of the all-Russian match between No. 22 seeds Anna Kalinskaya and Anastasia Zakharova.

Mboko, 19, is off to a strong start in 2026. She lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals at Indian Wells and also reached the final twice.

Canada’s Gabriel Diallo and Leila Fernandez are scheduled to compete later Friday in Miami.
