Canada’s Victoria Mboko eliminated in quarterfinals at Pan Pacific Open

Victoria Mboko’s run at the Toray Pan Pacific Open came to an end on Friday when she lost to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina 6-3, 7-6(4) in the quarterfinals.

The Canadian teenager won 83.3% of her first-serve points in the one-hour, 31-minute match and conceded just one of three break points in the loss.

The second seed Rybakina hit 5 aces in the WTA 500 hard court to advance to the semi-finals.

The quarterfinals were a rematch between the two after Mboko defeated Rybakina in the semifinals of the National Bank Montreal Open.

The 19-year-old from Toronto ended up winning that tournament as a wild card.

Rybakina also defeated Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 in the second round of the Pan Pacific Open.
