Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals of Nottingham Open

Leylah Fernandez’s improvement performance ended in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Canada lost to Ukraine’s Dayana Yastreska 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the first quarter-finals of the Nottingham Open Pasture Championships in England.
Fernandez, fifth, scored three games in the second set tiebreak before losing to World No. 46.
The 22-year-old Fernandez had a chance against Yastremska, but only hit one of eight breakthrough points. Yastreska is excellent on both breakthrough opportunities.
Fernandez, from Laval, Quebec, lost his first four games before winning a pair in Nottingham.
Later this month, World No. 30 will be ready for Wimbledon. She never advanced in the second round of the Grassland Grand Slam.
