Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime wins European Open title

Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime added another title to his name by winning the European Open in Belgium on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Canadian defeated Czech Jiri Lechecka 7-6(2), 6-6(7), 6-2 to win the hard court ATP 250 Championship.
Auger-Aliassime, the second seed in this tournament, hit 17 aces in 2 hours and 34 minutes and scored 79% of his first serve points.
Despite dropping the second set, the Montreal native was still in control of the match, converting two of his six break chances throughout the match and denying Lecceka a break opportunity.
The victory marked Auger-Aliassime’s eighth career title and his third of the year, following wins in Montpellier, France, and Adelaide, Australia, in January to kick off the 2025 campaign.
Auger-Aliassime is currently ranked 13th in the world, down from 6th in November 2022.
