Canada’s Diallo upsets Huang in second round of Hong Kong Open

Canadian tennis player Gabriel Diallo was eliminated in the second round of the Hong Kong Open on Wednesday after losing 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 to local wild card player Coleman Wong.

Montreal’s Diallo, the sixth seed in the ATP 250 event, won 81 percent of his first serves and faced no break points while breaking serve twice in the first set.

Huang recovered in the next two sets and defeated Diallo 1-2.

Diallo opened the tournament on Tuesday with a 6-4, 7-6 (7) victory over Jesper de Jong of the Netherlands.

Diallo, 24, is coming off a breakout season on the ATP Tour.

He won his first championship in 2025 and reached a career-high ranking of No. 33, finishing at No. 41.
