Canada’s Dabrowski and New Zealand’s Routliff lose in WTA year-end finals

Ottawa’s Gabriella Dabrowski and New Zealand partner Erin Rutliff lost 6-4, 7-6 (3) to Czech Katrina Siniakova and American Taylor Townsend in the WTA Finals on Tuesday.

The third seed led 5-2 in the second set before Siniakova and Townsend fought back.

Dabrowski and Rutliff defeated the same pair in last year’s WTA Finals title match and again in this year’s U.S. Open final.

The win evened both teams’ records with two wins apiece.

Siniakova and Townsend improved to 2-0 in the group stage.

Dabrowski and Rutliff, who currently have a 1-1 record, will face Hungary’s Timea Babos and Brazil’s Luisa Stefani in the final round-robin match.
