Eugenie Bouchard played entertainment matches against fans to end her career.
The 31-year-old from Westmont, Quebec lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic at the National Bank Open in Rogers on Wednesday night.
Bouchard announced on July 16 that she would retire at the end of her hometown event.
She disturbed Colombia’s Emiliana Arango at 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in the first round of Monday.
