Best Seed Alexander Zverev

Toronto – Germany’s top seed Alexander Zverev beat Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi 6-7 (5), 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2 in the third round of the National Bank Open Thursday night.
Third-ranked Zverev skipped the remaining week of hard games with top-ranked Jannik Sinner and second-place Carlos Alcaraz. No. 5 Jack Draper and No. 6 Novak Djokovic are not.
Zverev advanced to Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo No. 14, beating countryman Tomas Martin Etcheverry with a 6-3, 6-4 title. The German star won the BMW Open in Munich in April, winning his 24th ATP Tour title.
Previously, Alex Michelsen of the United States made Italy’s third seed Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Michelsen will face American learner Tien to beat American Reilly Opelka 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Denmark’s fifth seed, Holger Runes, advanced in a night game, defeating France’s Alexandre Muller 6-2, 6-4. Runes will play the title between Russia’s 10th seed Daniil Medvedev and Australia’s Alexei Popyrin.
Norway’s eighth seed Casper Ruud led Portugal’s Nuno Borges 7-5, 6-4 to play against Russia’s No. 11 seed Karen Khachanov. Khachanov beat the US Emilio Nava 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-1.
