Alcaraz, Ferrero announced a shock end to the partnership

Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero announced the sudden and surprising end of their coach-player relationship on Wednesday.
“After more than seven years together, Juanki and I have decided to close our chapter as coach and player until the end,” Alcaraz wrote on social media (translated from Spanish). “Thank you for turning children’s dreams into reality. This journey started when I was young, and throughout this time you have accompanied me on an amazing journey, on and off the court. And I have enjoyed every step of the way with you.”
“We reached the top, and I feel that if our sports paths should part, it should be from there. From the place we always worked for and always wanted to reach…. You made me grow as an athlete, but above all as a person. And the thing I appreciate the most: I enjoyed the process. I will remember that, the journey we took together.”
“Today is a difficult day,” Ferrero wrote. “It’s one of those things where it’s hard to find the right words. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when there are so many shared experiences behind you.”
“I wish I would have moved on,” said the 2003 Roland Garros champion, casting doubt on the exact reasons for their split. “I’m sure good memories and good people always find a way to cross paths again.”
With Ferrero on his team, Alcaraz captured six Grand Slam titles – two each at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Twice the Spaniard finished the year ranked number 1 in the world, including at the end of this 2025 campaign.
