Atmane receives a time violation, losing to Kecmanovic on penalty point

Terence Atmane’s 6-3, 6-3 loss to Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel ended in a point penalty on Thursday night.
Having already committed a time break early in the second set, Atmane’s second such break came while coming back down a match point. If the Frenchman had served, it would have resulted in the loss of the first serve. Because he was coming back, however, Atmane automatically lost the point – and the game.
“Relax; give me five seconds, okay,” Atmane told the referee after receiving his first break at 1-1 in the second set.
“I’m sweating like I’ve never sweated in my life,” he told the coach during the transition. “I’m shaking, I’m cold, I’m hot, I can’t even breathe, it’s a joke.”
Things got worse from there for Atmane, thus sending Kecmanovic to the semifinals in style. The Serbian will face Flavio Cobolli on Friday night.
