An excellent painting by Alcaraz, a solid approach to Sinner

The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters draw was revealed on Friday, and it’s a pretty good one for Carlos Alcaraz.
Among the other top seeded players with first-round byes in the upper half of the bracket are Lorenzo Musetti, Alex de Minaur, and Alexander Bublik. Musetti has only played one match since he injured his leg against Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. De Minaur is 1-3 in his last four starts and has a history of struggling on clay. Dirt is also Bublik’s worst terrain – even though he ran onto the Roland Garros circuit last spring.
The story is very different for Jannik Sinner at the bottom of the bracket. He could face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last eight and Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. Even Francisco Cerundolo, Stefanos Tsitsipas, or Tomas Machac could present a tough test for second-placed Italy in the third round. Although Tsitsipas is in terrible shape, he loves clay and is a three-time Monte-Carlo champion.
Alcaraz lifted the trophy for the first time last year. Soni hopes to take this title for the first time this year.
First round matches to watch in Monte-Carlo include Cerundolo vs. Tsitsipas, Stan Wawrinka vs. Sebastian Baez, Gael Monfils vs. Tallon Griekspoor, Frances Tiafoe vs. Terence Atmane, Joao Fonseca vs. Gabriel Diallo, and Karen Khachanov vs. Arthur Rinderknecht.
