Alcaraz Downs injured Musetti

Monaco – Carlos Alcaraz defeated injured Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 on Sunday to win the Monte Carlo final on Sunday and secured his sixth Masters 1000 professional title.
Alcaraz entered his first Monte Carlo trophy and his 18th Tour victory. The 21-year-old Spaniard will be second in the world rankings after Monaco’s victory.
Musetti began showing signs of right leg injury in the third group and was treated at 0-3. The 23-year-old Italian played in his first Masters 1000 final at the end of the game, in line with Alcaraz at the end of the game.
“It’s not the way I want to win the game, I’m really sad for him,” Alcalaz said. “It’s so glad I won Monte Carlo for the first time. It’s been a very tough week, with a lot of difficult situations and I’m very proud of how I handle everything.”
Alcaraz sometimes struggles this year and loses in Miami’s opening loss.
Last year, this was Alcaraz’s third straight clay court final and won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
Alcaraz competed in his 23rd Tour final. He needed six match points to beat Spanish compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Fokina 6-4 in Saturday’s semifinal.
Musetti had only two tour titles in 2022, and he broke Alcaraz twice to win the first set, but Alcaraz returned to strength with two of his own breakouts in the second game. Among the decider, Musetti never participated in many competitions.
Musetti, who ranked 13th in Paris last year, beat Alex de Minaur 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the semifinals. The Italian ousted defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.
The final was transferred for three hours as heavy rain was expected to occur at night.
