Alcaraz arrives at Japan quarterfinals, praising physiology

TOKYO – Carlos Alcaraz beat Zizou Bergs 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday before paying tribute to his physical therapist after an ankle injury.
The highest ranked Alcaraz landed awkwardly on his left ankle in his first game Thursday, unsure of how he felt about Bergus.
He kept in good shape, saying he “can play normally” and had his final eight meetings with Brandon Nakashima of the United States.
When asked about his ankle, Alkaraz said, “It’s a tough one, it’s a very important day and I have to recover as much as possible.” “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I have the best physiology in the world and I believe in 100% of people.
“The work he does for his ankles is great. I can play normally, and it’s great. Sometimes I worry about some movement, when I feel the ankles, but overall, I play some great tennis and it’s a great game.”
