LONDON – Ninth seed Daniil Medvedev ruled out another Grand Slam in the first round after losing at Wimbledon on Monday at Wimbledon.

The six-foot-6 Russian, a semi-finalist at the All England Club in the past two years, also withdrew from the French Open in the first round. This comes after the Australian’s second round loss opened to 19-year-old qualifier learner Tien.

“At the moment, I’m not worried,” said No. 9 Medvedev. “If I ended my year in the world (No. 15) year, maybe I would be more worried. For the moment, I’m not.”

Medvedev’s last consecutive loss of Grand Slam first round was in 2017 – making his debut at Melbourne Park, followed by Roland-Garros.

Medvedev lost to Cameron Norrie in Paris this year. In 2023, the Russian was seeded in the second place in Roland-Garros and lost to Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round, who was 172nd at the time.
