Canada’s Leylah Fernandez beat Germany’s Tatjana Maria 6-0, 7-6 (1) in the first round of the Bad Homburg Open on Sunday.
Fernandez, of Fernandez, Quebec, had 3 aces, hit a double breakdown and won 61% of her first-place score.
The 22-year-old also broke all the chances in the game.
Despite Maria’s major push in the second set, hoping to expand the game to the third game, Fernandez went on a 7-1 tour to win with a 7-1 victory.
Maria has four ACs, double breakdowns and won 67% of her first-place score.
The 37-year-old broke the only chance of the game.
