Boisson climbs to ranking despite public losses in France

Paris – The French Open’s revelation Loïs Boisson rose 296 positions in the WTA rankings on the fairy tale stage of Roland-Garros.
The French woman reached the semifinals last week in the Clay-Racing Grand Slam, and he jumped to No. 65 in the latest release released on Monday.
Coco Gauff beat Boisson in the semifinals, her first French open title. There was no change in the top of the ranking, with Aryna Sabalenka leading Gauff and her fellow American Jessica Pegula.
Sabalenka lost to Goff in the Roland-Garros final.
Boisson received an entry to the pass in Paris, allowing third-seed Pegula to break the quarterfinals before defeating sixth-place Mirra Andreeva before Gauff ended her unexpected run.
Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Quebec, remains the highest-ranked Canadian in the WTA Tour, down three spots last week from last week. Toronto’s Victoria Mboko entered the third round of Paris and climbed to 91st place.
Carlos Alcaraz is second in the men’s ATP rankings after retaining his title in Roland-Garros’ longest-ever final against top-ranked Jannik Sinner.
Despite the loss, Sinner’s lead increased his lead to 2,030 points, as Alcaraz, the defending champion, couldn’t add any points. Sinner lost the final in the semifinal last year, scoring 500 points.
Alexander Zverev, third-ranked, dropped 900 points after losing to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Djokovic is fifth behind No. 4 Jack Draper.
Montreal’s Félix Auger-Aliassime slides both positions to No. 29, while Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ontario rises to 30. Gabriel Diallo of Montreal threw a position to No. 55.
